Our History

Founded in 2003, Champag is a mushroom family farm and a leading cultivator of local mushrooms. The farm's location was specifically chosen to ensure that the mushrooms arrive fresh at grocery stores, ready to be consumed in a nutritious and healthy way by households. In addition to being local, Champag stands out for its use of modern and innovative techniques in the growth, harvesting, and packaging of mushrooms.

Champag is not only committed to local cultivation but also prides itself on adhering to high standards of ethical, environmental, and quality practices. This commitment is evidenced by its certifications in Smeta, Organic Federation of Canada, and SQF. Smeta (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit) certifies responsible business practices in labor rights, health and safety, the environment, and business ethics. The Organic Federation of Canada recognizes farms that adhere to organic agricultural standards, ensuring products are grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers.

SQF (Safe Quality Food) certification signifies that Champag follows rigorous food safety and quality standards throughout their production process. Since freshly cultivated mushrooms have a unique nutritional value and contribute to the fight against certain diseases, Champag decided to grow them locally and supply them to stores and supermarkets. In order to guarantee the quality and safety of its products, the company has pursued these certifications. Today, the company is growing and supplies about 160,000 pounds of high-quality mushrooms per week, thus holding 12% of the mushroom market in the province.
